The Breeders Cup is a rotating event held at a different track every year. At least that was the case before it was held at Santa Anita Park in California in 2008 and 2009.

This year’s Breeders Cup will be held on November 5th and 6th, 2010. It is the 27th running of the event.

The 2010 Breeders Cup will be held at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. It was last held there in 2006. It is most famous for being the track of the Kentucky Derby and the Kentucky Oaks, and this will be the record-setting seventh time hosting the Breeders Cup.

There are 14 different races for the Breeders Cup over a two-day period. They each range in distance with the $5 Million Breeders Cup Classic the final one at 1 ¼-miles. That’s the same distance as the Kentucky Derby.

The total attendance at the 2009 Breeders Cup was 94,496. That was an 11% increase from 2008.

The Breeders Cup is different than the Triple Crown because it runs on different surfaces. The last two years were run on synthetic surfaces, while Churchill Downs is famous for its dirt track.

That can cause certain horses to stay away from the event. The European horses favor the synthetic surface, so many could choose to pass this year.
