Icebox is the 3-1 favorite in this year’s running of the Belmont. Check below for the full post list and odds.
At 11Am this morning, the entries were closed for the 2010 Belmont Stakes, and the posts were drawn. Here are the posts and the current odds:
1 – Dave in Dixie – 20-1
2– Spangled Star – 30-1
3 – Uptowncharlybrown – 10-1
4 – Make Music for Me – 10-1
5 – Fly Down – 9-2
6 – Ice Box – 3-1
7 – Drosselmeyer – 12-1
8 – Game On Dude – 10-1
9 – Stately Victor – 15-1
10 – Stay Put – 20-11
11 – First Dude – 7-1
12 – Interactif – 12-1
The obvious front runner is Ice Box, whose favorable position, blazing times and strong finish in the Kentucky Derby gave him 3-1 odds. Ice Box is trained by Nick Zito and who also trains Fly Down, putting the trainer in a very good position to have trained a winning horse in the 142nd Belmont Stakes.
This is not the only interesting story to crop up for the race, coming up June 5th. If Ice Box wins, Robert La Penta will have gotten 1st, 2nd and 3rd place victories in the Triple Crown races. He grabbed the second place with Ice Box in the Kentucky Derby presented by Yum! Brands this year and took third with Jackson Bend, which he co-owns.
This will only be the 6th Belmont Stakes that has been run without the winner of either the Derby or the Preakness and with Ice Box drawing such a favorable post, we have found a headliner.
