10th June 2010 in NBA Betting

The New Jersey Nets were arguably the worst team in the NBA this past regular season as they were only able to win 12 games and barely escaped going down in NBA history as one of the worst teams of all-time.

Despite coming off their worst season in franchise history, the New Jersey Nets have a promising future ahead of them as they have already gone through some drastic changes in the offseason.

The first change the Nets went through in their offseason was undergoing new ownership after Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov bought the team. Not only was Prokhorov buying the team a step in the right direction as he has no problem playing big bucks to improve this team, but this Russian billionaire has also made it his mission to win an NBA title in the next five years.

The New Jersey Nets winning an NBA title in the next five years is a stretch to say the least with the state of the franchise right now, but they are definitely taking steps in the right direction as they will have the third overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft and have just hired head coach Avery Johnson.

Throughout his three and half years with the Dallas Mavericks, Avery Johnson won 194 games while only losing 70. That is impressive to say the least as no other NBA head coach in the history of the league has had a better winning percentage (.735), including the Los Angeles Lakers Phil Jackson.

Even though Avery Johnson has been out of the game for about two years now since being fired by Mark Cuban, the former San Antonio Spurs point guard is still amongst the best head coaches in the league and a huge upgrade for the New Jersey Nets moving forward.
