Chicago Bears (-3) @ Detroit Lions
Sun. Jan. 3rd 1pm EST
Total: 45
Coming into this NFL season the Detroit Lions thought they were on a verge of turning over a new leaf after finally drafting a franchise caliber quarterback in Matthew Stafford. With the combination of Stafford behind center, superstar wide receiver Calvin Johnson and a solid running back Kevin Smith the Lions thought they would have a good chance of possibly being a playoff team this season, but that just hasn’t been the case as they didn’t do much better than last season with only two wins on the year.
There definitely does seem to be some light at the end of the tunnel for the Detroit Lions with the addition of Stafford and a good young core of players, but this season will go down and another disappointment for arguably one of the worst teams in the NFL.
As for the Chicago Bears, they haven’t been much better as they did something very similar this past offseason by trading for that elusive franchise quarterback in Pro Bowler Jay Cutler.
Unfortunately, Cutler went from Pro Bowl caliber quarterback to the quarterback with the most interceptions this season with a total of 26 coming into this head to head matchup with the Lions.
Despite the Bears problems with turnovers, they are coming off perhaps the most impressive win of the season against the Minnesota Vikings in which they were able to hold off Brett Favre and company in overtime to get the victory 36-30.
So coming into week 17 the Bears will be riding high with some new found confidence in their troubled quarterback. With that being said, I believe they should blowout the Lions this weekend in Detroit and destroy the -3 point spread.
