The dust is starting to settle in the NBA free agent market this summer as most of the big-names available have already signed contracts with their new or current teams. Even though the majority of the big-names are off the market, a lot of teams are looking for the right role players or veterans to fill in the gaps and surround their superstars.
Obviously, all eyes will be on the new NBA superpower Miami Heat and the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers next season as they will be the favorites to face off in the NBA Finals in June, but both of these teams are looking into signing players to fill in the gaps before heading into next season.
At this point in time, the Miami Heat are the team really starting to pursue role players at a discount as they need to fill out their roster, but despite already signing Mike Miller, Undonis Haslem and Zydrunas Ilgauskas, they still need a few more pieces to the puzzle.
One player that hasn’t really gotten much attention this summer in this talent packed free agent market is two-time scoring champion Tracy McGrady. Even though he still might have a few good years left in him, a lot of teams have been scared off because of his injury problems over the years, but apparently there are three teams interested in his services off the bench.
The Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers have all shown a bit of interest in adding the former All-Star, but with the Lakers most likely re-signing Shannon Brown the defending champs probably won’t make a play for the shooting guard.
The Heat and the Bulls on the other hand will most likely be the two teams heavily in the running for McGrady. Chicago has shown the most interest as of right now as they have a big void at shooting guard, but Miami will also put their two cents and will probably give him some consideration.
Chances of winning the NBA title:
Chicago Bulls: 15 to 1
Miami Heat: 7 to 4
Los Angeles Lakers: 11 to 4
