Congratulations to LeBron James and the Miami Heat on winning the 2011-12 NBA Championship with a dominant performance over the Oklahoma City Thunder. James has claimed his first ring and can now shed the label of “best player to not win a championship.” He had a playoffs that rivaled the best ever in the game statistically and now that he has won, the league has a tough task of prying that trophy from his hands in the coming seasons.
Kevin Durant and his Thunder teammates showed that they aren’t going anywhere in the future either after getting all the way to the finals. With the core of their team being 24 or younger, OKC can use this Finals loss as a learning process in hopes of ultimately achieving their goal in the future. They will be back in time and like Miami was this year, they will only be hungrier for another shot at that crown.
