New Orleans Saints (+1.5) @ New England Patriots Thurs. Aug. 12th 7:30pm EST
The defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints will officially start their title defense on Thursday night squaring off against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in their first preseason game of the season.
Even though preseason games are fairly pointless in terms of the outcome, they can still show what we can expect from teams in the upcoming NFL season as the starters get show they haven’t missed a step in the first few series and the players trying to make the team give it their all from there on out.
Coming into Thursday night’s preseason matchup at Foxboro, the Saints will look to make an impression early to show that they are ready to repeat as Super Bowl champs coming into the regular season.
Obviously, players like superstar quarterbacks Drew Brees and Tom Brady won’t play more than one or two series or so, but the players to keep your eye on will be the wide receivers, running backs and defensive players for both teams.
Despite the Patriots being favored to win their first game of the year, I believe the Saints will be a little too much for Bill Belichick’s squad to handle as they are the better team on both sides of the football field.
In my opinion, this game will be decided in the first half as both teams will be looking to light up the scoreboard by airing it out early.
As of right now, the New England Patriots are favored to win this first preseason game with a 1.5 point spread for football betting, but in the end the defending champs should come out on top and by a convincing margin.
Take the New Orleans Saints at +2.5
