NFL Preseason Week 1
New Orleans (0-0) at New England (0-0)
Thursday, August 12th at 7:30 PM
Thank the lord that the NFL regular season is only weeks away! In the meantime, preseason football betting is upon us and this Thursday, August 12th, the New Orleans Saints travel north to New England to face the Patriots. This will be a tough and emotional games as both of these franchises have high expectations as we inch closer to kick-off 2010.
The New Orleans Saints are still riding high from their Super Bowl win. It is clear that this team means business as they have looked sharp all preseason long. Additionally, Sean Payton is essentially fielding the same team that won it all last year. We may not see much of triggerman Drew Breese on Thursday, but Sean Canfield, Chase Daniel, and Patrick Ramsey should all get some quality snaps with plenty of time to score points.
Over on Bill Belichick’s side of the ball, the Tom Brady aura is slowly dissipating as age and health is setting in. Questions loom from the stands regarding the future of the Hall of Fame Patriot. Fans are excited to see what Brian Hoyer and (more so) Zac Robinson brings to the table. Without Wes Welker running the quick slants, the Patriot’s offense wont be the same.
Since this is week 1, predicting preseason games is very difficult without seeing past performances. But with the two teams taking the field, the Super Bowl champs should come out on top simply because of their mojo and the Saints just have more talent to win. The scoring will be low as you will see a lot of vanilla offense play calling with basic play calling and few blitzes on defense. No one wants to risk injuries this soon.
Start the NFL preseason on a winning note with the Saints and the Under.
Pick:
Saints +1.5 (-110)
Under 35.5 (-110)
