The Texas Longhorns try to break out of their recent funk when they visit the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Monday night.
No. 6 Texas (18-3 SU, 7-10 ATS) is a 2 ½-point road favorite at Belmont.ag. ESPN will broadcast at 9 pm ET, after Connecticut (+6) at Louisville.
Texas began the season 17-0 straight-up (SU) and was ranked No. 1 in the polls. However, road losses at Kansas State and UConn, plus an overtime home loss to Baylor last Saturday, have them reeling.
The Longhorns did have a home win against Texas Tech sandwiched in there, but this is not the same team as earlier in the season.
Forward Damion James is still playing very well, but center Dexter Pittman has been awful, and the three prized freshmen seem to be hitting the wall.
Oklahoma State (16-5 SU, 9-5-1 ATS) is an undersized team with only one real inside player (Marshall Moses). James Anderson is the leading scorer at 22.5 PPG, but he takes a lot of shots to get his points. The entire team is shooting just 44.6 percent from the field and 33.5 percent from three-point land.
The Cowboys do have something going for them in this game, home court advantage. The team is 11-0 SU and 4-0-1 ATS there. They’ve ‘covered’ Big 12 home game versus Texas Tech, Colorado and Texas A&M.
Texas is certainly a big upgrade from those teams, but OSU should make things very interesting against the struggling Longhorns.
I like the road team to pull it out.
