The Dallas Cowboys visit the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday in arguably the best matchup of the weekend.
This is the first of two Sunday contests. The late game on Sunday afternoon is the NY Jets (+7) at San Diego Chargers.
Minnesota (12-4 SU, 9-6-1 ATS) is 2 ½-point home ‘chalk’ at Belmont.ag with a 46-point total. FOX will broadcast from the Metrodome at 1:00 pm ET.
The Vikings are very fortunate to be the NFC second seed. They lost road games down the stretch at Arizona, Carolina and Chicago. A final week, 44-7 home win over the New York Giants finally ended the slide.
Minnesota is 8-0 straight-up (SU) at home this year, which is the only reason they’re favored. The Vikings are also 5-2-1 ATS at home, one of the best records in the NFL.
The big question for Minnesota is its psyche. There’s no question that quarterback Brett Favre and coach Brad Childress aren’t getting along. They’re not on the same page in terms of play-calling, and that could cost them.
Dallas (12-5 SU, 10-7 ATS) is one of the hottest teams in the league. They’re 4-0 SU and ATS in their last four games. Two were road games at New Orleans and Washington, and the other two home games against a very tough Philly team.
Dallas is playing physical on both sides of the ball. The Cowboys’ pass rush with DeMarcus Ware should be able to get to Favre, and perhaps cause a couple of turnovers. Tony Romo also needs to be careful with the ball, but he’s playing very good right now.
I think Dallas wins this game outright.
