Last season was the beginning of some drastic changes for many big-name players around the league, but no superstar had his future more affected than two-time scoring champion Tracy McGrady.
Coming into last season, McGrady was hopeful for a full recovery from his ailing injuries and a chance to get back onto the floor and back into the starting lineup. Unfortunately, only one of the two things McGrady hoped for actually happen as he was finally able to get healthy, but once he was ready to go and contribute to the team, the Houston Rockets no longer wanted the injury prone superstar as they had moved on with the addition of players like Aaron Brooks and Trevor Ariza.
After learning that he would have to take a backseat or a much more diminished role on the Houston Rockets, McGrady asked for a trade and the Rockets have no problem granting that wish, but it was no easy task to get a deal done.
Fortunately, the Houston Rockets were able to find a suitor in the form of the New York Knicks just before the NBA trade deadline. Once the deal was done, McGrady went to the Big Apple, played a few games, but really didn’t make much of an impression.
Now Tracy McGrady is a free agent and looking for a team to possibly end his career with, but despite still having potentially a few good years left in him, the former All-Star is finding it difficult to find a new team.
Reportedly, there have been a few suitors for McGrady this summer like the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat, but he has still yet to sign.
Recently, McGrady worked out with the Los Angeles Clippers who are looking for a veteran of his caliber to play the back up two guard spot behind Eric Gordon or start at the three spot. With McGrady on their roster and with Blake Griffin coming back, the Clippers roster would be stacked to say the least.
It is uncertain up to this point where Tracy McGrady will end up, but he still has options and will most likely end up with a team that could be playing in the playoffs next season.
