Washington Huskies Season Win Total: Over/Under: 6.5

This is the 5th and final year for Jake Locker to sport the #10 Huskies jersey. Coach Sarkisian is ready to unleash his record setting and Heisman hopeful QB. The program has been in disarray for the past seven seasons, but last year’s 4-5 conference record is something the team will certainly build off of tremendously. The books have the over/under win total at 6.5, a mark that even the Huskies can garner.

Before analyzing the schedule, we must dissect the personnel. OC Doug Nussmeier returns 9 players on offense with the high powered offense resting on the shoulders of Jake Locker. The line, led by Senio Kelemente, will protect the triggerman and open gaps for sophomore stud RB Chris Polk. When the ground game is working, it will open up sure handed wide receiver Jermaine Kearse. This offense is solid and set. The Huskies should be tops in offensive production within the conference.

The defense may pose a problem as only 6 starters return on a squad that was almost last in every defensive statistical category. The front four must gel and improve quickly and the young secondary will not have many chances for error. The LBs should be fine. Again, the defense will determine the fate of this team.

Looking at the schedule, it is not to difficult to envision a 7 or 8 win season.

BYU: The loss of Unga, and starters at the skill positions will be no match for the Huskies, 1-0

Syracuse: The Orange have been squeezed by every team that plays them, 2-0

Nebraska: The Cornhuskers are too strong of a team to bow down to Locker, 2-1

USC: Back-to-back wins, its possible, especially with USC’s attrition and lack of depth, 3-1

Arizona State:  The rain in Seattle will slow down ASU’s production, 4-1

Oregon State: The Beavers will send the Huskies back to where they belong, 4-2

Arizona: This will be a nail bitter, whoever has the ball last wins, 5-2

Stanford: Even without TG, Stanford still pulls away with a win, 5-3

Oregon: The Ducks are too much for the Huskies to handle, 5-4

UCLA: Huskies lost a close one last year (23-24), it won’t happen again, 6-4

California: The Bears are out of steam, Huskies win big, 7-4

Washington State: The Cougars should consider dropping to D-II. They will be lucky if they win one Pac 10 game this season, 8-4

The Huskies’ Heisman QB and strong offense will lead Washington to an 8 win season and bowl birth. Jump on this line quick, because as preseason practice gets underway you will see how talented an offense the Huskies will field.

Pick: O 6.5
